This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to base operations. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Responsibilities:
Monitoring
- Carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection activities at field level
- Support the design and piloting of monitoring tools to be used during activities and assistance
- During monitoring activities ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, confidentiality and informed consent
- Carry out data collection work
- Refer on potential vulnerable cases to Monitoring & Evaluation Officer or sensitive issues that might be observed at field level
- Keep supervisor informed of any safety incident that might take place
- Solve problems and conflicts that might occur during monitoring and respond to minor complaints coming from beneficiaries
Reporting and information:
- • weekly and monthly reports to the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer on achievements and challenges related to monitoring
- • Protection cases identified and referred in coordination with the protection team
- • Produce periodic monitoring reports to ensure programs have accurate and useful data to inform project development
- • Participate in the internal evaluation of the program
Accountability
- Ensure that the activities are compliant with DRC accountability principles
- Support the implementation of DRC’s complaints mechanism
- To be successful in this role we expect you to have strong analytical skills, understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation and assessment, and research methodologies; to have the ability to build support from staff across teams and across members, and to build the capacity of others. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required experience and competencies:
- Minimum 1 year of direct experience of monitoring and evaluation
- Training in quantitative methodologies, including database management.
- Strong analytical skills and an understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation and assessment to promote evidence-based learning.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding to design, commission, and manage assessment methodologies and techniques such as focus group discussions, key informant interviews, observations to name a few.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and summarize it for a range of different audiences.
- Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to build support from staff across teams and across members, and to build the capacity of others.
- Proven ability to coordinate effective resource allocation to ensure quality programmes.
- Experience of working within budget constraints.
- Experience of qualitative research techniques
