The Oncology Nurse will participate in patient/family education, make pertinent nursing assessments, collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team and provide appropriate interventions. The incumbent must be available to work a variable schedule and work cross all sites. Nursing staff work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided.The Float Pool provides nursing support to both Outpatient Clinic and Systemic Therapy Programs across all of CancerCare Manitoba sites, including MacCharles, St. Boniface Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, and Grace General Hospital.Qualifications:Requirements:

  • Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Strong understanding of patient-centred care
  • Proficient with MS Word//Outlook and internet use
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Three (3) years’ experience within settings such as medical/surgical or ambulatory care
  • Previous experience in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion
  • Knowledge and experience with oncology
  • Experience with electronic charting
  • Ability to speak French
  • Certified Oncology Nurse [CON(C)]
  • Knowledge and experience with wound care
  • Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Leadership and self-development

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
