As the BGL will also support bids and proposals to help develop and grow GHD’s presence and market share in the delivery of scientific, engineering and design services. The role will provide leadership in developing and delivering a range of design projects and leading and mentoring a team of scientists, hydrogeologists, engineers, project managers and technical specialists.

  • In consultation with the Regional General Manager and Market Leader, Environment, the Business Group Leader will develop, support, and execute on business strategies and opportunities, and be accountable for the sustainable growth of the NRIA services, meeting established metrics for the team’s portfolio
  • Manage Business Group performance, lead, mentor, and coach the team and manage resources
  • Ensure the smooth delivery of projects, manage, and monitor project outcomes, troubleshooting issues as they arise, liaise with clients to forge long term relationships, and manage expectations internally and externally
  • Providing vision and direction for the Western Canadian business that links with GHD’s North America market strategy, and input into the Region Market Strategy
  • Develop meaningful connections and influencing positive outcomes, building, and developing relationships with the other Regional BGLs to collaborate and share resources where feasible, and supporting relationships with existing and potential clients and partners.
  • Providing leadership to the Business Group in line with GHD’s values and objectives
  • Building effective relationships with other Regional CAR Business Group Leaders and Market Leaders outside of the Region to create local opportunities for the Western Canadian Region and achieve established revenue growth targets

About you:You will have an Operational Management, Project and Design Management experience in delivery design projects and a foundational technical background in engineering and design project delivery.What you bring to the team:

  • 15+ years professional experience within an engineering consultancy firm with at least 5 or more years in a leadership role, managing, leading and mentoring others.
  • P. Eng., P. Ag., P. Geo., P. Bio. or equivalent designation
  • Demonstrated technical capability across your area of technical expertise, including all project phases from project planning, to detailed design and construction services
  • Effective & proven project delivery, networking, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to develop lasting internal and external relationships based on trust and delivery excellence
  • Proven background in delivering projects from proposal to completion
  • Proven background of managing a design delivery organization
  • Detailed knowledge of various types of delivery methods for various markets
  • Ability to mentor and train team members
  • Provide project delivery leadership, in the delivery of engineering and design services and supporting all project phases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools, and aptitude to learn and use other business systems and applications (i.e. PowerBI, BST10, etc.)
