Today, our staff, students and alumni work in government, academia, international agencies, and health services across the world.We are seeking to appoint to the role of Dean of the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (ITD) to lead the development of existing and emerging areas of excellence in research and education, responding to an era of new challenges for public health. As a member of the Executive Team, reporting directly to LSHTM’s Director, the Dean will play a major strategic role, incorporating leadership and management at Faculty and School level and representing and advocating for the Faculty and LSHTM externally.The Faculty’s vision is to deliver outstanding contributions to reduce the evolving disease burden related to infections and global health inequity. The Faculty is positioned at the interface between laboratory science, clinical medicine and population health, and has close links with colleagues and collaborators in more than 100 countries. The Faculty encompasses a broad range of disciplines, including all laboratory-based work at LSHTM, with research approaches from fundamental biology through clinical research to impact on policy and practice. Around 135 students are studying research degrees.This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead an academic portfolio of significant strategic importance. We are therefore seeking an inspiring and inclusive leader with sustained academic leadership experience gained at a strategic level in research intensive environments. They will be a leading academic in their discipline and passionate about delivering high-impact research, innovative interdisciplinary programmes, and an exceptional student experience.
