Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Postdoctoral Researcher in Ice Sheets and Sea Level in a Changing ClimatePosition Summary:The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at McGill University invites applications for a fully-funded Postdoctoral Researcher position in Prof. Natalya Gomez’s research group under her Canada Research Chair in Ice Sheet – Sea Level Interactions beginning by September 2024. The Researcher will work in collaboration with Dr. Gomez on a range of possible projects under the broad theme of modeling and observations of ice sheet dynamics, glacial isostatic adjustment, and global sea levels.Candidates must have a doctoral degree in geophysics, glaciology, sea level science, geodesy, paleo or modern climatology, glaciology, oceanography, or a related subject with strong quantitative research skills and familiarity with numerical modeling. Candidates should explain the relevance of their background to Dr. Gomez’s research program.The position is for 2 years, with possibility for an extension depending on progress and available funding. The annual salary will be $50,000 plus benefits. The position includes a maximum relocation allowance of $2,500. Postdocs at McGill must remain within 5 years of being awarded their Ph.D. throughout their appointment, and therefore applicants must have been awarded their Ph.D. within three years of their start date.McGill University is located in the city of Montreal, Québec, Canada, with a dynamic, multicultural community of around 1.8 million people. The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is located on the downtown campus. In addition to being an active member of Dr. Gomez’s research group, the postdoctoral researcher will join a community of postdoctoral fellows in the department and have access to a wide range of networking, mentoring and development opportunities for early career professionals, including at McGill and with national and international collaborators. Training will be customized for the researcher by identifying specific technical skills and professional development opportunities to be prioritized during their work on the project.Review of applications will begin on April 5th, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Start date is negotiable but ideally the candidate would begin by early September 2024.All applications must include:
