OFE is a non-profit think tank that champions the principles of openness in computing across Europe. Launched in 2002, our focus areas have expanded to include Open Technologies, standardisation, Digital Government, and other crucial policy topics. Our work is guided by values of user-centricity, competition, flexibility, sustainability, and community.

Position: Policy Advisor
OFE is seeking a Policy Advisor to lead the development and advocacy of digital policies. The role focuses on open technologies and digital sovereignty in the public sector, in the context of new regulations like the Interoperable Europe Act and the EU Cyber Resilience Act.

Responsibilities

  • Research and consult on open source issues.
  • Analyse OSS policy and legal frameworks to influence public sector digital policies.
  • Generate authoritative content on open source developments to support communication efforts.
  • Enhance user engagement and community-building; maintain stakeholder dialogue.
  • Forge strategic relationships with policymakers and industry leaders to advance OFE’s objectives.
  • Represent OFE at conferences, presenting and engaging in critical discussions.

Profile

  • Expertise in European digital policies, especially public sector digitisation.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience; more experienced candidates also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated ability in policy analysis and communication.
  • Exceptional writing skills, capable of simplifying complex digital policy issues.
  • Proficiency in English; additional EU languages beneficial.
  • Skilled in networking and public speaking; experience in stakeholder relations.
