- Supervise and lead the dispatch team during weekend shifts, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Coordinate the assignment of truck drivers to pickups and deliveries, optimizing route planning and resource allocation to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor driver performance and productivity, providing feedback and coaching as needed to maintain high levels of service quality and efficiency.
- Act as a point of contact for drivers, addressing any issues, concerns, or emergencies that may arise during weekend shifts, and implementing effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Collaborate with other departments, including logistics, customer service, and maintenance, to facilitate seamless communication and coordination of activities to support weekend operations.
- Utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to monitor fleet activities, track shipments, and maintain real-time visibility of driver locations and delivery statuses.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards governing the transportation industry, including hours of service regulations and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of dispatch activities, including driver assignments, delivery schedules, and any incidents or deviations from planned routes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, transportation management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or a similar role within the transportation industry, with at least 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional service.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and other relevant technology tools to manage fleet operations and track shipments.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices governing the trucking industry.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly to resolve operational issues and ensure on-time delivery.
- Flexibility to work weekend shifts and adapt to changing schedules or priorities as needed to support 24/7 dispatch operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential challenges or obstacles in transportation logistics.
