Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.As a Senior Development Lead, you will have the opportunity to work with IDEA (Innovation, Digital, Expertise, Architecture) team within GFT (Global Functions Technology). Being a part of IDEA, you will be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies to new and existing projects to ensure increased employee collaboration, engagement, and efficiency. In addition you will be leading a team of developers to provide IT services to different lines of business on various applications.What will you do?Evaluate and conduct POC’s on various emerging technologies and take selected ones to production.Utilizing the latest technologies available, designing, and building solutions to meet business needs.Constantly seek out better ways to do things, new tools, new technologies, new processes.Develop and maintain APIs and all supporting code – design and build micro-services.Develop and maintain Frontend web applications and web components.Utilize technologies like Java Spring Boot, Nodejs, Elasticsearch, Angular, React, Postman, MS SQL, Postgres etc.Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability – design highly scalable and extensible productsKnowledge of DevOps CI/CD approachesKnowledge of GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Maven and/or other Build Servers, Software Deployment Tools – preferably UCDWhat do you need to succeed?Must-haveMust have working knowledge with Object Oriented Programming and Design PatternsMust have working knowledge with the following: Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, SCSS, Batch & Shell Scripts, PythonMust have working knowledge with the following backend and frontend technologies: Java Spring Boot Framework, Nodejs, Angular2+/React, RESTful APIs, Authentication, SSL, SSOMust have working knowledge with GitHub, Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ Idea, Postman, Azure OpenAI, Tableau, Azure Data Studio or SSMS, SSH Shell, SFTP etc.Basic working knowledge following operating systems: Windows Servers and UNIX/Linux serversWorking knowledge with one or more of the following databases/datastores: MS SQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Mongo DBGraduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, engineering, or technology.
