Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Assistant Manager, Payroll reports to the Manager, Payroll, and is responsible to coordinate the overall payroll process and transactions for Nova Scotia Health and the different organizations it serves. This includes overseeing the payroll function for approximately 26,000+ employees, collaborating with Finance staff, and conducting non-standard payroll analysis to ensure data integrity with an annual payroll exceeding $1.5 Billion. Responsibilities include managing and overseeing people and processes, communicating effectively with stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service, and proactively building and updating payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.This dynamic role involves leading and participating in project-based work involving data analysis and process improvement. This role will focus on building and managing expertise in payroll data and technology to enhance payroll services and provide excellence customer service. The Assistant Manager, Payroll will be committed to a high standard of performance and will provide based functional expertise and support across the organization to support its strategic mission, vision, and goals. This role is collaborative with Finance staff to ensure smooth operation of payroll processes. Working with other payroll management and staff, the assistant manager acts as a key functional resource by coordinating, planning, and leading improvement activities within the payroll team. The Assistant Manager is responsible for providing in-depth analysis of payroll and financial data and for ensuring that current and emerging requirements across the province are met.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in related field.
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) an asset.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years strong management and/or functional system experience and knowledge of payroll service delivery and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Experience with process and departmental transformation.
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Knowledgeable of SAP.
  • Experience in engaging, mentoring, and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives an organization.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and strong experience in analyzing data.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and efficiently delegates the issues to the team members.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
