This post is full-time and is offered on an open-ended basis.The James Watt School of Engineering (JWSE) at the University of Glasgow is a growing international centre of excellence for Engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity; Biomedical Engineering; Electronics & Nanoscale Engineering; Infrastructure & Environment; and Systems, Power & Energy. We have 172 academics and 176 post-doctoral researchers supported by 62 technicians and 33 professional services staff. We also have more than 500 research students working towards doctorates.Our School hosts fundamental research that is developed with the ambition to lead to industrial and academic impact. We expect the successful academic to complement and synergise with existing activities and to develop a network of collaborations locally (across the James Watt School of Engineering and the University) as well as to liaise with industry to translate their research to the highest impact.We are now seeking to fill academic positions for priority areas within Energy Engineering. * Whole systems modelling

  • System dynamics for multi-physics energy systems
  • Emerging technologies in heating and cooling

Highly complex relationships exist between energy and digital technologies, infrastructure and services, the economy, the environment, society, and policies. These posts will contribute to the development and deployment of adaptive, diversified, accessible and resilient energy systems to enable a sustainable net-zero future at scale and pace.The Systems Power & Energy (SPE) division in the James Watt School of Engineering has an international reputation for its energy engineering research, addressing both the development of renewable energy resources and the most responsible further uses of conventional ones towards a sustainable net-zero future. SPE has had a pivotal role in the establishment of the new Glasgow Centre for Sustainable Energy (GCSE), which focuses on finding equitable and affordable ways to reliably meet the world’s energy needs without contributing further to climate change. GCSE reflects the University’s broader commitment to finding solutions to some of society’s biggest challenges through our research, innovation, education and partnerships.
