The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. This position is located in the Global Material Life Cycle Management team (GMLCM), Delivery and Return Section (DRS), Supply Chain Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy. The Logistics Officer is under the general supervision of the Team Lead, GMLCM.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Logistics Operations Officer will be responsible for the following duties during the MINUSMA liquidation support: • Logistics support for MINUSMA liquidation and ongoing peacekeeping and other field missions includes: supply chain management, materials/assets management, transportation, maintenance, contracts and services management, communications, information technology, engineering and medical services. • Develops and provides support for MINUSMA liquidation plan and associated logistical plans. • Perform Global Asset Management functions for respective assets and provide recommendations to field missions on the most effective sourcing options for respective assets, such as SDS, UNR, 3R and UNS • Manages logistics operations including management of logistics assets, materiel, contracts and personnel during MINUSMA liquidation. • Ensures timely, accountable and cost-effective intermission asset transfers during MINUSMA liquidation support. • Ensures that supervised staff are adequately trained, cross trained; identifies additional training needs to achieve high working standards. • Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs. • Liaises and coordinates logistics support with other units within and outside the UNGSC, MINUSMA including client entities and UNHQ • Prepares reports on personnel and materiel movements and other operational logistics issues. • Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained. • Guides and supervises new/junior staff. •Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provides insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Performs other related duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, engineering, supply chain, logistics, law or other relevant field. A first-level university degree in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Job – Specific Qualification
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or related area is required. Experience in Property and Asset Management in an international organization is required. Experience in business intelligence and data analytics in ERP systems is required. Experience working with ERP systems (Umoja or similar) in property management, material master, inventory control, and logistics processes is required. Experience working in support of a field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies, funds and programmes), or other similar international organizations is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in English, (both oral and written) is required.
