Position Objective

The Indian Regional Office (IRO), under the Office of the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (VP&COO), is functionally responsible for client relations and representation of the Bank in India and Bangladesh. The IRO is responsible for project identification and pipeline development, project preparation, project implementation and regional portfolio management. The IRO is also responsible for carrying out additional functions delegated by the VP&COO. 

Reporting to the Director General, IRO, the Professional will be actively involved in project identification, pipeline development and implementation of the projects approved by the Board. 

Purpose-Analyze

•    Keep abreast of and analyze developments that may have an impact on existing projects and apply the information to identify and address planning and implementation issues related to project delivery.
•    Identify high-quality projects that may enable the Bank to pursue opportunities in alignment with the Bank’s development agenda.

Engagement-Collaborate
•    Collaborate with the other departments of the Bank on originating new projects to ensure their quality and alignment with the Bank’s standards at concept stage. 
•    Collaborate with sponsors, developers, and counterparts in other multilateral development banks, national development banks, central and state governments and financing institutions to build cooperative engagement in planning and execution of projects.
Delivery- Manage the Project Cycle
•    Advise management of the IRO on potential projects and assist clients in enhancing their outcomes, in alignment with the Bank’s planning and implementation cycles. 
•    Monitor implementation of projects and identify quality issues to ensure achievement of originally envisaged outputs and outcomes.

Requirements:

•    Master’s Degree in areas relevant to NDB mandate. Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
•    Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in financing public or private sector projects in the region.
•    Fluency in English essential to communicate in writing and speaking.
•    Substantive knowledge. Demonstrated capacity gained through advanced training/education in public and private sector projects, reflecting conceptual understanding. Conceptual: Render rigorous analysis of specific project designs and activities. Applied: Explore and arrive at solutions appropriate to client needs and utilize standard approaches that require limited adaptation and consistent with well-defined project/program objectives.
•    Communication skills. Demonstrated skill gained through exposure to interactions with internal and external stakeholders. Internal: Communicate inputs and insights to team to enable integration of work outputs as part of a coordinated deliverable. External: Engage with clients to ensure comprehension of needs and build understanding of these requirements for their timely fulfilment.
•    Execution skills: Demonstrated achievement in the execution/delivery of programs. Timeliness: Deliver outputs in a manner consistent with standard timeframes to support the work of others and meet client needs. Quality: Deliver outputs which are consistent in quality and relevant to client.
