Role Description
The Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) are seeking to appoint a Digital Content Creator.
This is new role in our organisation. You will be based at FBA’s headquarters situated on the
shores of Windermere, one of the most iconic and studied lakes in the world. FBA offers a

The Digital Content Creator will play a key role in creating and delivering engaging and
inspiring content across our range of digital channels. Ensuring our digital presence supports
and enhances our mission and delivers key messages effectively, the role will be responsible
for shaping and delivering our digital content strategy.
This role requires someone who is creative and can identify, create, manage and deliver
attractive digital content, across platforms including websites, social media and webinars. The
role will work across a range of projects in the organisation and therefore effective working
relationships will need to be formed with various internal teams, external stakeholders and
partner organisations.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who is passionate about digital
communications, producing tangible results, environmental issues and conservation action.

Key responsibilities
- Lead on the day-to-day management of our digital channels, creating inspirational,
informative and engaging content. - Plan, produce and create of a programme of digital content to be used across all our
digital channels and monthly e-newsletter ‘FBA Voice’ to increase engagement with our audiences
and stakeholders. - Develop creative ideas, suggest new innovative ways of delivering digital content and keep
up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends. - Create graphics and edit photos.
- Create awareness and interest within our audiences and stakeholder groups, driving traffic
to engage with digital content. - Monitor, analyse and report on the performance of digital channels/activities using tools
like Google Analytics, feeding back to stakeholders and using the data to inform future
activities. - Prioritise and schedule work effectively, anticipating problems and adjusting the
allocation of resources and time accordingly. - Participate in regular departmental and cross-departmental progress meetings.
- Work with contractors, suppliers and freelancers to achieve deliverables.
- To act responsibly with data held by FBA that you may have access to as part of your role,
adhering to the provided guidelines and policies.
We are looking for a highly motivated, open-minded person with the following background and
qualifications:
- Educated to degree level, ideally in marketing or communications, or significant experience
of working in a digital communications role. - Energy, enthusiasm and proven experience in producing digital content and digital best
practice, preferably with / for an environmental charity. - A passion for the environment, ecology and conservation action.
- Knowledge and experience of running digital advocacy and supporting (not leading)
fundraising campaigns. - Strong creative skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Experience using web content management systems.
- Experience developing and managing social media campaigns across channels such as Twitter,
Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. - Experience of photography and creating/editing images, using packages such as Adobe
Photoshop. - Experience of video production, including filming, editing and delivering via channels such
as YouTube (desirable). - Understanding of digital analytics and metrics, their importance and the tools to monitor,
manage and evaluate the success of content. - Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partner
organisations and stakeholders. - Able to deliver a range of concurrent projects.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and
structure work schedules. - Excellent attention to detail including proof reading skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience delivering webinars (desirable).
- An understanding of or experience in developing email marketing campaigns.
About the Freshwater Biological Association
We are a small environmental NGO with a large remit – understanding and conserving freshwaters
across the globe. Our innovative work on species recovery and citizen science engages hundreds
of people to participate in protecting our vital freshwater ecosystems. Our goal is to increase
understanding, learning and participation in freshwater ecology and this exciting role will
help us achieve that.
You will be joining a small but perfectly formed team of enthusiastic and dedicated people
working in the beautiful English Lake District. This exciting opportunity is being offered on a
permanent basis with a base package including 25 days annual leave plus privilege days (9 days
pro rata), additional paid bank holidays depending on actual days worked, 3% employers pension
contribution, life insurance and personal health & wellbeing programme.
