Job Description:Grade UE07: £39,347-£46,974 per annum, pro-rata if part-timeCollege of Arts, Humanities and Social Science/School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language SciencesFull time: 35 hours per week, opportunity to appoint at part time hoursFixed-term: for 5 months; please note there is an opportunity to appoint at part time hours, in which case the duration shall be adjusted accordinglyWe are seeking to appoint a fixed term Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our Psychology Department to assist on Professor Sarah MacPherson’s Leverhulme funded project, “I’m still learning: Collaborative learning in person and remotely in aging”.The Opportunity:We are seeking a candidate with expertise in the experimental study of learning and/or memory is available in the Department of Psychology, School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious researcher to join a Leverhulme-funded project, “I’m still learning: Collaborative learning in person and remotely in aging” (Principal Investigator: Professor Sarah MacPherson). This project aims to identify the factors influencing success of collaborative learning in older adults. The post holder will collaborate with the team to examine whether there are comparable benefits when older adults learn remotely using communication technology such as Skype or WhatsApp video calling compared to face-to-face interactions.Please note we are willing to consider applications for part time hours so if this is of interest please state in your cover letter, alongside expected work volume. Should a role be offered on a part time basis, please note the fixed term end date shall be suitably adjusted to accommodate this change. Salaries shall also be pro-rated as required.The role shall be based within the Psychology Building, 7 George Square (Central Campus). Opportunities for discussion on informal hybrid workplace arrangements can be discussed at the time of offer, however please note that on campus working is required, especially in relation to work on data collection.Your skills and attributes for success:
- A PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Linguistics or a related discipline.
- A strong track record of research and publication in learning and/or memory, preferably in cognitive aging.
- Experimental psychological data collection with adult participants, especially involving cognitive psychology methods.
- The ability to prepare summaries of data analysis for peer reviewed publication, including creation of figures for data presentation.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with the other project staff, to coordinate multiple tasks, and to work with other investigators.
