Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join the Controllers group. This position reports to the Manager, Revenue Accounting in the Conventional Business Unit, (CBU), part of Pembina’s Pipelines Division.Pembina’s conventional pipeline assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various hubs and terminals. This network transports crude oil, condensate and NGL across much of Alberta and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan and North Dakota.The Sr Accountant will be a key contributor to the Revenue Accounting team ensuring that CBU revenue is reported and forecasted for in accordance with IFRS 15. The successful candidate is a team player who will regularly collaborate across various groups within the organization to explain business drivers of revenue variances and trending.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Prepare monthly revenue journal entries in accordance with IFRS 15 including Make-up Rights provision, deferred revenue, revenue accruals, and Cost of Service;
  • Prepare and present revenue and volume variance analysis including narrative write ups for monthly Scorecard;
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to prepare financial statement schedules and note disclosures;
  • Liaise with key members of the Business Unit including Contracts, Logistics, Business Development and Commercial Services to ensure the accuracy of invoices and variance analysis;
  • Review commercial agreements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is applied;
  • Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations;
  • Maintain comprehensive revenue and volume reconciliations for contracted parties to determine annual settlements;
  • Assist with monthly revenue invoicing in accordance with contractual terms;
  • Communicate and collaborate with customers to address queries;
  • Maintain internal control processes and documentation;
  • Support and participate in an inclusive and diverse work culture;

Qualifications:

  • Post accounting designation experience in similar or related roles;
  • Bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Bus. Admin or related discipline) and professional accounting designation required;
  • Proven experience with the interpretation and application of IFRS 15, preferred;
  • Organized, detailed, highly analytical and able to consistently deliver accurate and timely information;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics clearly and tailor to audience;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and dead-line driven environment;
  • Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment; ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong knowledge of all MS Office tools, particularly Excel;
  • Energetic, resilient and possess a positive, can-do attitude;
  • Experience with SAP, PowerBi, and software implementation would be an asset; and
  • Experience in oil and gas, and specifically midstream/pipeline industry would be an asset.
