This is a multidisciplinary project with co-investigators based at five UK Medical Schools (University College London, Keele University, University of Leeds, Queen Mary University of London & University of East Angelia), as well as public contributors and medical students. The role will include working with a cross-institutional and multidisciplinary team, coordinating the recruitment of participants from GP practices based in diverse areas in England, collecting survey and semi-structured interview data, and performing quantitative and qualitative data analyses. The postholder will also lead a dissemination strategy, alongside a stakeholder group, and be expected to prepare publications for journals and conferences.The candidate is expected to have a PhD in a relevant subject and experience of qualitative and/or mixed methods data collection and analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a postdoc interested in investigating the use remote GP consultations for medical education, and/ or patient perspectives of medical education.Application Details:
- This is a fixed-term role available from 1st October and funded until 31st March 2026 in the first instance.
- Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent on award and confirmation of a PhD (or equivalent). If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B, point 28 (salary £ 39,980 per annum inclusive of London allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

The ideal candidate will have experience with qualitative and quantitative (or mixed methods) data collection and analysis. Attention to detail is key and the researcher will have responsibility for supporting GP practices in research recruitment.You will work within the Primary Care Education Research Group (PCERG), which is a team of academic GPs and social scientists responsible for the primary care curriculum for UCL’s MBBS programme and who are engaged in educational research. This team is based in a vibrant and growing UCL department of research, academic and professional services staff focused on primary care and population health research and teaching.
