Background
Organizational Context
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development form the cornerstone of the work of the UN in Indonesia, which consist of 25 Agencies, Funds and Programmes with close to 2,000 personnel in the country.
UN in Indonesia provides policy advice, technical support and knowledge sharing on a host of development priorities, outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework in Indonesia (UNSDCF) 2021–2025, synchronised with the national mid-term development plan (RPJMN).
To further increase public awareness of the UN’s work and impact in Indonesia and to increase support for its values and goal to “Leave no one behind”, the UN in Indonesia through its UN Communications Group (UNCG) wishes to engage a proficient Visual Communications Assistant with the primary purpose to produce video material, working in close collaboration with the UN Information Centre (UNIC), the UNCG and subject matter experts across the UN in Indonesia. The main target audience of the outputs is youth.
Under the supervision and guidance of UNIC Director, the Visual Communications Assistant will provide support on the success of UN in Indonesia’s digital media reach and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Support the project team to ensure effective preparations of videos
- Support the effective reporting on progress making of videos
- Provides communication support in Video editing
Functions / Key Results Expected:
Support the project team to ensure effective preparation of videos, focusing on achievements with the following:
- Assists in the coordination of creative and innovative information materials on topics based on the UNCG work plan and priorities of the various agencies.
- Compiles, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific projects and related topics or issues innovatively and creatively manner.
- Prepare the draft a list of topic ideas and create a content planning calendar.
- Participate in Brainstorming and consulting video ideas to the communication team and director or national officer depending on the sensitivity.
- Closely working in managing the approval of the script, identifying visual assets to use and – in collaboration with the relevant UNCG members – people to interview.
- Prepare and develop a script for review (in English and Indonesian).
Support to the effective reporting on progress making of videos, focusing on achievements with the following :
- Create and develop scripts for on-screen texts, voice-overs, and interviews to be included in the video, and submit these for approval to the Social Media Assistant and senior UNIC staff.
- Arranging Coordination and liaise with talents, coaching talents.
- Provide a Record video footage and audio with an average length of 90s for each video.
- Collect footage and summarize data from online sources to be used in the video.
- Archive, maintain and edit project product material files in a clear folder structure and follow naming conventions.
Provides communication support in Video editing, focusing on the achievement of the following:
- Design a range of publications for editing the video, add opening and closing bumpers, add suitable background music, add logos, add subtitles.
- Improve, edit artwork, and finalize the video in Bahasa Indonesia and English versions for each video (usually only differ in the subtitles, but can be the voice-overs as well if necessary).
- Arrange and consolidate information and data from landscape and portrait versions for each video and other graphic element.
Impact of Results:
The duties performed by the Visual Communications Assistant has a direct impact on the success of UN in Indonesia’s digital media reach and performance.
