Job Description:Grade 6, £32,982 – £38,205 per annumCollege of Science and Engineering / School of Biological SciencesFull-time: 35 hours per weekOpen-ended: permanentWe are looking for an experienced, well-organised and enthusiastic Student Advisor to support our prospective and current research students in the School of Biological Sciences.The Opportunity:The successful candidate will support the coordinated delivery of administrative and student support functions within the School of Biological Sciences. They will act as a first point of contact for research students and applicants, offering guidance to those navigating the University ecosystem. Working closely with academic and professional service teams, the postholder will help ensure research students reach their potential, as well as ensure parity of experience across the cohort.Ideally, candidates will have experience in the Higher Education sector, with knowledge of University of Edinburgh student regulations and policies, and an understanding of the intricacies of postgraduate research support.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Proven experience providing advice, guidance and support.
  • High-level IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience interpreting policy, regulation and legislation.
  • An ability to line manage and positively influence colleagues.
