Do you enjoy solving complex problems using data-driven approaches? Do you have an interest in MRI, machine learning, medical research, statistics, and computer vision techniques?About the roleAs a Data Scientist, you will help develop bespoke cutting-edge techniques for deployment in clinical trials and future medical devices. You will accelerate and scale new and existing workflows, leveraging machine learning techniques for improved use of imaging and other data across the company. While working closely with other research teams, you will help maintain deep learning models behind much of Perspectum’s automated image analysis capabilities, allowing Perspectum’s core algorithms to run at scale. Your work will especially support Perspectum’s Pharma Solutions business and will involve interacting with Physics, Engineering, Image Analysis, Quality Assurance, Data Management, and Business Development teams.Your Duties will include:

  • Technical development of new systems and workflows
  • Implementation and extension of techniques from academic literature
  • Deployment and monitoring of new workloads on the cloud (i.e. AWS)
  • Read and understand technical reports and algorithm specifications
  • Write technical reports and algorithm specifications
  • Contribute to scientific manuscripts
  • Keep up to date with advances in machine learning, through the literature, team discussion meetings, and conference attendance
  • Make presentations showcasing the work of the team
  • Collaborate with internal research teams and on external research collaborations

About You

  • You will be educated to a degree level (preferably Master’s degree) in a relevant scientific or technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or similar).
  • You will possess strong organisation, written, and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to thrive in both a team and individual environment.

Your knowledge and experience will include:

  • Solid grounding in mathematics/sciences
  • Evidence of an interest in the application of research to biomedical problems
  • Experience in artificial intelligence / machine learning / data science
  • Prototype coding
  • Automation of data processing pipelines on remote systems (on the “cloud”)
  • Understanding of the importance of algorithmic validation
  • Desirable experience includes:
  • DICOM, NIfTI, Python, PyTorch, AWS, Terraform
  • Modern computer vision methods, including U-Net and transformer models
  • CI/CD pipelines, unit testing
  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline, or substantial technical experience
