We seek to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with significant competence in applications of machine learning and skills in computer science. Applicants should have a track record of publications and academic achievement to complement the research in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics, and the ability to lead teaching and research in AI, broadly, including topics in computer vision or robotics. Applicants should have the ability to motivate and support students in realising their potential and achieving competitive skills through creative, problem-centred approaches to learning, teaching and assessment.This is a career-defining opportunity and we seek to appoint someone with significant competence in computer science and AI to extend the research and teaching expertise, seeing projects through their entire lifecycle, from proposals to publications, strengthening the culture in the School.The PersonAn effective communicator, you will hold a PhD in Computer Science or closely-related area and an appropriate HE teaching qualification, such as FHEA. You will take a lead in learning and teaching in core computer science topics and participate in the development of courses. You will make a strong contribution to the profile of the School through demonstrable excellence and leadership in research and teaching. Constantly seeking to improve, you will scrutinise your own work, build networks, and work collaboratively to enhance the faculty’s reputation. You will work with a team of talented lecturers to lead computer science subjects to deliver vibrant, relevant education to your students, using a variety of technologies and approaches to develop their Future Skills.The School is a close-knit group of academics with strengths in computing education, with its NCSC-recognised MSc, and research in AI, computer vision and machine learning. We offer high-quality courses focused on applied computer science, cybersecurity, games and digital media, reflecting the needs of business and industry, which the School has ambitious plans to expand, going further into robotics, engineering, security and data science. Our courses are strengthened by active collaborations with industry as well as educational and research partnerships.
