Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat You’ll Be DoingYou will join CIBC’s Capital Markets Supervision & Governance team as an Associate to support the Director and Executive Director, focusing on building and sustaining an effective First Line of Defense program for the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) and Simplii Financial, ensuring various groups adhere to the required trading policies and procedures.Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group is an unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How You’ll SucceedSupervision & Surveillance: Perform a suite of monitoring activities including AML Transaction Monitoring (AMLTM) for ASG and surveillance of sales practices within the Simplii Financial client-facing group, including filing Unusual Transaction Reports to Enterprise AML.Governance & Oversight: Monitor new and changing regulatory requirements on a timely basis and assess their potential impact. Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of supervisory manuals, policies, guidelines and procedures to reflect the current regulatory requirements.Risk Assessment & Consulting: Work closely with the product owners in ASG and Simplii Financial to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps and provide recommendations from a monitoring perspective for new products and services.Continuous Improvement and Operational Efficiency: Be the advocate for continuous improvement in both process efficiency and effectiveness, as well as development best practices that ensure quality of work.Communication and Collaboration: Assist in preparing detailed responses to address internal (business) and external (regulatory) enquiries. Escalate significant issues of noncompliance to the Director and Executive Director.Relationship Building: Build and sustain effective partnership with the business. Keep an open dialogue with Enterprise AML (2nd line), sharing findings and analysis. You will have frequent contact with Risk Management, Fraud, Compliance, Technology, and Internal Audit.Who You AreYou have an undergraduate university degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Finance or related field.You can demonstrate 3-5+ years’ experience working in the financial sector, especially in Risk Management, AML, Compliance, Client Onboarding/ Due Diligence.You are a certified professional. It is considered an asset if you have the Canadian Securities Course or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist certification.You are digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends and you bring excellent experience using Excel, Power BI, Tableau with the ability to program rules-based logic and manage dashboards.You give meaning to data.
