FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)Duration of Contract: PermanentSalary:Grade UH7: Lecturer £37,099 per annum to £44,263 pa by annual incrementsGrade UH8: Senior Lecturer £44,263 per annum to £56,021 pa by annual incrementsAnnual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New YearLocation: HatfieldMain duties and responsibilitiesYou will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also support learning through the development of course materials, including online content, as well as undertaking necessary administrative duties, tutorial and laboratory activities.You will be expected to contribute actively to research and commercial interests of the school and develop short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the school. You will supervise postgraduate research projects and apply for external funding to support research and commercial activities.Additional for Senior LecturerAs Senior Lecturer, you will also undertake an administrative role in the School such as module leadership, assisting with programme management, or other similar duties. You will also provide leadership in an aspect of research or commercial activities, or other similar duties and undertake other duties within the framework of the post as delegated by the Head of Department or Head of Subject Group.Skills and experience requiredYou must have experience of working in Engineering and Computing within Higher Education or of working in the Engineering and Computing sectors. You will need proven experience of teaching or tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and appropriate industrial, academic or research experience in closely related areas of above.You will have excellent oral and written communication skills that will benefit teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A willingness to contribute to the wider development of Robotics and AI including teaching in a secondary subject area and assisting or organising activities such as laboratory development, student recruitments, etc is essential.For the role of Senior Lecturer, you must have substantial experience of industry-based projects & commercial activities in robotics subject areas. You will have a significant track record of research publications and/or industrial experience and evidence of securing external funding. You will also have knowledge and demonstrable experience to be able to make a significant contribution to the School’s research and commercial activities.Qualifications requiredA minimum of a first degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject area.For the role of Senior Lecturer, you must hold a first degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject area and a doctorate in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science or related subject areas.This post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Robotics and AI Engineering attracts a Recruitment Incentive of up to £5,000 payable to the successful candidate in their first salary payment after joining the University of Hertfordshire for the first time.
