About the role

This is a key role in delivering Earth Trust’s work to demonstrate innovative farming
techniques as well as engage farmers, landowners and others in the work of the Partnerships
for Nature Project
, a collaboration led by the North Wessex Downs National Landscape
(NWDNL) and funded by Defra via the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Species Survival Fund.

This is a fixed term role until March 2026.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of the agroforestry and habitat creation project at Earth
    Trust Farm.
  • Liaise and work with arable contractors, graziers, suppliers and others to deliver the
    various elements of the project.
  • Undertake ecological monitoring with surveys, habitat assessments, data collection and
    mapping
  • Provide assistance to our rangers and land management volunteers delivering practical
    habitat and infrastructure tasks at the site.
  • Support farmers/landowners in regenerative agriculture developments with site visits to
    other projects and farms.
  • Engage the wider community through delivering presentations, liaising with the
    communications team on publicity, organising and leading walks and talks.

About you

We’re looking for someone with an understanding of agriculture and regenerative farming in the
UK, and knowledge of biodiversity, habitats, wildlife and nature conservation.

This role is suitable for someone looking to gain experience. It will be supported by Farming
& Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) South East who will provide training and mentorship, and
the post-holder will work with them on average of one day per fortnight.

About Partnerships for Nature

Partnerships for Nature is a collaborative project led by the North Wessex Downs National
Landscape and funded by Defra via the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Species Survival Fund.
The partnership is supporting the delivery of the National Landscape’s Nature Recovery Plan
priorities through seven partner-led habitat creation and enhancement projects, including Earth
Trust’s Bessie’s Field agroforestry demonstration project, as well as funding the role of the
Regenerative Farming & Species Recovery Officer.
