We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Sales Specialist to join our growing Commercial team at SPT Labtech, to be based ideally near our UK office in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire. You will be responsible for growing sales of the new HexAuFoil range of grids, part of our Quantifoil brand of electron microscopy sample supports by nurturing existing business and identifying new business potential. You will have a strong understanding of the sales process and excel at researching and identifying new customer relationships. The Technical Sales Specialist should be a quick learner who has strong communication skills and an ability to showcase our offerings compellingly.About us:Quantifoil, part of SPT Labtech, is the world’s leading manufacturer of electron microscopy specimen supports, and has made a vital contribution to the “resolution revolution” that has made cryo-electron microscopy an essential part of drug discovery and fundamental molecular biology. Launched in October 2023, HexAuFoil ultra-small hole gold grids are Quantifoil’s latest product and deliver consistency and improved quality in every image. They are a key part of our continuing commitment to delivering the most technically advanced supports to the structural biology community.Want to be part of a team that’s truly making a positive difference to human health?Responsibilities:

  • Utilise Hubspot database, Linked In and email to generate new sales opportunities and close/expand existing business
  • Identifying and proactively reaching out to prospective customers to generate demand for HexAuFoil, and later Quantifoil, grids.
  • Covering our global customer base with a primary focus on North America and Europe.
  • Develop professional relationships within the assigned region with research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, PHD’s, and executive members of an organisation.
  • Educate and train customers on HexAuFoil. Provide pre- and post-sale product demonstrations, product in-services and clinical support. Attend occasional vendor shows to support staff in the use of HexAuFoil where necessary. Adhere to specific laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Report to the Chief Commercial Officer with weekly, monthly, and quarterly results
  • Collating and communicating customer feedback to appropriate departments.
  • Delivering administrative support including generating quotes, updating CRM etc.
  • Participating in training sessions to obtain and maintain an in-depth technical and applications knowledge of the Company Product Portfolio.
  • Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
  • Support company goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Ideally a Master’s qualification in a biology discipline, or similar.
  • 2+ years’ sales experience, within the life sciences consumable sector.
  • Ideally based within commuter distance of Cambridgeshire.
  • Experience working within a sales and technical team.
  • Computer literate and thorough familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with CRM software.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20% of total time).
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including persuasive and expositive skills.
  • Ability to effectively make formal and informal product presentations to individuals as well as to large groups, including physicians, research associates, purchasing groups, lab managers, and executive members of an organization.
  • Knowledge of the lab environment and sales cycle is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn the necessary scientific terminology to proficiently sell into the life sciences market.
