Posting Type: Internal and ExternalGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Major Maintenance Analyst takes a lead role in the field coordination of consultants and trades personnel conducting corporate building assessments and equipment recording. Primary responsibilities of this position include:Program Development: Assist the supervisor with overall area service delivery, with direct involvement in major maintenance planning and administration. Research and gather information to assist with developing and implementing departmental strategies, tools, and administrative directives based on best practices for continuous improvement.Departmental Advice: Acts as a departmental advisor to provide technical and functional guidance regarding policies, procedures, program implementation, and legislation to management and other staff. This advice will ensure consistent, innovative, and legislatively compliant administrative guidelines, policies, procedures, and precedents. Maintains strong relationships with internal departments to understand their business functions and how they interact/relate to the business functions.Service Delivery: Analyzes information such as maintenance records, drawings, technical reports, and photos (aerial and on-site). Reviews analyzes and critiques necessary information to define annual project work, produce product recommendations, and develop business cases to assist with annual budget requirements. Develops project scopes for hazardous substance testing and specialized building assessments, including cost tracking and scheduling.SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of current building codes required.
  • Proven ability to research various building products and business applications around building maintenance.
  • Proficiency with computer systems to include work with spreadsheets and word processing is required.
  • Proven analytical, planning, communication, organizational, interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to read blue prints; and ability to formalize, prepare and present technical reports in a highly organized manner.

EDUCATION:

  • Building maintenance planning courses are required, or a Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC) professional designation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Construction administration courses are an asset.
  • Project management courses are an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five (4) years’ experience in the building construction industry is required, including experience in building assessments and major maintenance project planning.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment is considered an asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Submission of a Criminal Record Check.
  • A valid Class five (5) Operator’s License is required as incumbent will be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business use on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to work outside in all conditions.
