Your role and responsibilities

An outstanding opportunity to join a small team to help shape the conservation and enhancement
of two of England’s finest landscapes, the Dedham Vale and the Suffolk & Essex Coast &
Heaths National Landscapes.

We are seeking a highly motivated person to work in partnership with a wide range of public,
private and third sector organisations to deliver environmental enhancements across east
Suffolk and north Essex, engaging with partners at a regional and national level on National
Landscape topics.

You will line manage part of a high performing team hosted at Suffolk County Council. You will
develop externally funding opportunities and take charge of several projects delivering
environmental outcomes either directly or in partnership with others. There will be an
occasional need to deputise for the National Landscape Manager.

This rewarding role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to deliver environmental
work in two nationally designated landscapes and develop their skill set across a wide
portfolio of disciplines, including:

  • wildlife
  • heritage
  • securing external funding
  • landscape.

You will need:

You will need knowledge of partnership working and the ability to think creatively, be able
to problem solve and develop ideas into projects. No day is the same. On a daily basis you may
be developing environmental projects, supporting staff, engaging with communities or partners
or writing reports for funding partners.
