A Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) is available for 1 years. The post holder will develop, design, and implement the use of NMR spectroscopy to direct evolution of nanobodies to increase their affinity for their target. The project is to be run by a cross-Faculty interdisciplinary team, lead by Dr. Matt Cliff (Senior Technical Specialist, Magnetic Resonance), and including Dr.s Tom Jowitt and Rich Tunnicliffe (Biomolecular Analysis/Protein production), and Mark Dunstan (Senior Technical Specilaist in Bioautomation/Robotics). This post would suit an outstanding and ambitious scientist with experience in recombinant protein production in E. coli, structural biology and biophysics who is interested in developing high throughput techniques for directed evolution. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and taking a leading role in a research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required. You should have, or be working towards, a PhD in biochemistry, chemical biology or a related subject.What you will get in return:
