We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Scientist to support our therapeutic discovery pipeline, as well as technology development. You will be part of the In Vitro Discovery team, supporting campaigns to isolate and optimize therapeutic antibody candidates across AstraZeneca’s key disease areas. This is your chance to make a significant impact on the future of Oncology R&D!Accountabilities:As a Senior Scientist, you will be independent and proficient in designing and executing antibody discovery/optimisation campaigns using yeast display technology and related in vitro display platforms, demonstrating excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams, supporting technology development programs, including design/generation of innovative antibody libraries and evolution of our next-generation discovery workflows. Your role will be pivotal in driving forward our ambitious research agenda.Essential Skills/Experience:

  • A PhD level with relevant experience, or BSc/MSc degree with equivalent experience
  • In depth knowledge and hands-on experience using a yeast display discovery methodology
  • Experience in using FACS sorting of yeast library selections
  • Proficiency with molecular biology and antibody engineering methods
  • Ability to independently design, plan and execute antibody isolation/optimisation campaigns
  • Ability to analyse/interpret data and communicate the results internally and externally
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize protocols
  • Ability to maintain accurate, high quality and up-to-date experimental records
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in the multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to learn and embrace innovative technologies

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience using phage display, mammalian display or cell-free display technologies
  • Good background in genetics of antibody diversity and biologics discovery process
  • Experience in designing and generation of synthetic antibody/scaffold libraries
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing applied to antibody discovery
  • Experience in using computational methods applied to antibody design and optimisation
  • Experience in high-throughput antibody screening and reformatting methods
  • Experience with leading/co-leading and/or managing research projects
  • Experience with managing or supervising people
