It is in this context that we are recruiting scholars who will join with us in our pursuit of excellence in the postAn exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Human Biology/Biosciences, within the School of Health and Sport Sciences. The appointed Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will make a full contribution to the School in terms of a demonstrable commitment to teaching, learning, scholarship, research & knowledge exchange, and associated activities towards supporting a diverse undergraduate and postgraduate student population and maximising their potential.Applications are invited for an outstanding research-active candidate with a broad knowledge of human biology/biosciences. The successful candidate is required to have a PhD in human biology or an appropriate area of the biosciences and be committed to delivering research of a high quality. We are interested in candidates who have core subject knowledge across the following areas: medical microbiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, statistics/modelling, anatomy and physiology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, genetics/clinical genetics. Candidates should specifically have an excellent understanding of the biology of human disease. Advanced skills, knowledge and experience of bioscience laboratory techniques are essential.The post holder will be expected to teach on and develop the curriculum across the undergraduate programme in Human Biology and assist with developing new School and Faculty UG and PG provisions, as appropriate. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals with previous lecturing, assessment and associated administration experience as well as experience with module or course leadership in higher education.The successful applicant will join a supportive team of academic staff who work well together as a cohesive School. The School is fully committed to excellence in teaching, to enhancing the student experience, and to delivering research of the highest quality. The University is rapidly developing its research and knowledge exchange profile and has an ambitious agenda for the future. All new academic staff appointed to the University must either already be research active at REF 3* or above level or have the clear proven capacity, willingness and ability to become research active at this level for the next REF exercise. The successful applicant will join one of the Research Groups within the School and will be expected to undertake research to complement and enhance our existing work in the School and Faculty.
