A Construction Project Manager is a professional who leads and oversees a construction project, and works with Engineers and Architects to develop a plan, create a project time frame, distribute resources, and ensure timely completion. Their duties include planning, hiring, firing, and supervising employees.Construction Project Manager’s Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
  • Responsible for overall project performance and reporting in areas including, but not limited to safety, cost/budget, schedule, quality and project status
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Monitors project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety and environment, and quality control
  • Conducts site tours, including safety inspections
  • Lead by example to ensure policies, procedures and standards are adhered to
  • Mentors, coaches, supervises and assesses performance of direct reports and other team members
  • Oversees project from pre-construction to closeout.

  • 5-10 years of local Canadian construction experience as a Construction Project Manager completing a variety of institutional new build and renovation projects.
  • Has completed one full new build institutional project
  • Has completed one full renovation of an institutional project.
  • Experience managing large contracts involving trades, consultants, construction management firms.
  • Post-secondary diploma in a construction related discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines
  • Familiar with project management and estimating software programs
  • Knowledge of relevant construction law and building code
