  • Detailes definition of method statements.
  • Is responsible for working collaborative with the CJV procurement department providing ongoing support to the procurement process regarding supplies, rentals/leasing and subcontractors.
  • Is a part of training programs for local staff, when it comes to track Works, both for development of contents and as a trainer
  • Plans and manage Works (own staff, subcontracted staff, owned equipment, leased equipment) monitoring the overall progress of the project and taking corrective action where necessary and as appropriate.
  • Attends to meetings with the client. The purpose of these meetings will include but will not be limited to: provide updates on the progress of the different workstreams; presentation of business cases, proposals, strategies; resolution of comments and questions; and obtain approvals on the initiatives and proposals made by the CJV.
  • Supports the rest of the departments: Planning, Cost control, Estimating, Scheduling, Design/technical office, HS, Qa/Qc.
  • Liases with key stakeholders (i.e. subcontractors, client, union representatives, etc) to ensure that work can proceed as planned. o Identify risk and make recommendations for mitigation strategies o Manage variations in the agreements o Overseeing invoicing
  • Fulfills the role of mentor as and when required

You bring:

  • Work in a team environment, put a priority in being a team player.
  • CJV is looking for individuals with relevant experience, 10 or more years in similar roles would be desirable. The experience in heavy rail/ballasted track construction and working in brownfield projects/operational infrastructure will be emphatically valued.
  • Availability to work in Toronto, Canada, long-term.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English both spoken and written, in a professional environment, or provable ability to get this level in no more than three months.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Well developed leadership skills gain through manage site teams who work in high pressure railway environment
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to different environments (Different resources, different requirements/rules, differences in human resources management) and shifting priorities  Flexibility to adapt to different shifts
  • Decision-making capacity
  • Engineering or construction management degree.
  • Working in a leadership position for a railway contractor or Class 1 railway, specifically for railway construction activities
  • Understanding of different types of railway equipment and equipment supply chains
  • Understanding of different types of track materials and supply chains
  • Consultancy experience in railway projects.
  • Understanding of track and civil design and survey
  • Design experience in railway projects.
  • European English Certificate level C1-C2 (CEFR) or equivalent
  • Management training  Experience working in Metrolinx and Class I railroads environments.
  • Knowledge in BIM and collaborative procedures.
