Based in Lewes, East Sussex – hybrid working office/home based.
4 or 5 days per week
Holiday - 25 days leave plus bank holidays, pro rata
Salary £22,500-£27,500, pro rata
We have an exciting opportunity for a new team member to work with our growing CommuniPower
Team, empowering local communities to achieve Net Zero throughout England. We are looking for a
Project and Communications Assistant to get involved in all aspects of our work.
This job will suit someone starting out in their career and who has a keen interest in working
with communities to take action on the climate crisis. You will be willing to assist in project
management, communications and administration, working hard to progress the aims of the
organisation and your career. There will be opportunities for promotion in the organisation as
we grow and you gain experience.
About Community Energy South
Community Energy South was set up in 2013 to support the network of community energy groups in
the Southeast of England. Our mission is to support local communities to manage or own
renewable energy projects, undertake energy efficiency projects, and reduce reliance on fossil
fuels. We also work together with our member groups to help alleviate fuel poverty.
About CommuniPower
The CommuniPower team works across multiple projects to deliver energy advice and
decarbonisation plans for local communities. We work with new and established community energy
and climate action groups to help people begin their decarbonisation journey alongside their
neighbours and wider community.
Job Description
You will have a broad role, working across the CommuniPower team. Your responsibilities will
include:
- Helping to organise and deliver community outreach events, workshops, training and
meetings. - Promoting events through social media, regional publications and print media.
- Producing written content for outreach, engagement and the Community Energy South
Newsletter. - Assisting project managers with specific elements of project delivery such as stakeholder
mapping and supporting energy champions. - Supporting project managers in monitoring project progress, preparing reports, and ensuring
timely delivery of project milestones. - Reporting on project KPIs and maintaining data management systems.
- Undertaking administration tasks such as organising meetings, following up on project
actions and responding to enquiries. - Other related tasks deemed appropriate by the organisation.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A people person who is willing to support our team in all aspects of the business.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a
team environment and engage with diverse stakeholders. - A keen interest in energy and environmental projects in a community-based setting.
- A keen interest in delivering outreach and communications activities, particularly through
social media and online content. - Some knowledge or experience in community energy.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working with community groups, preferably in the community energy
sector. - Experience in delivering training and events.
- Educated to degree level in a related discipline.
