Location: City CampusClosing Date: Saturday 31 August 2024Interview Date: To be confirmedThis role is advertised as both a Standard Academic Contract (to include a requirement to engage in research) or a Teaching Only Contract.This is an exciting opportunity to join the enthusiastic and ambitious Department of Computing at the University of Worcester. The Department is based within the rapidly expanding Worcester Business School at the University of Worcester City Campus. Over the past year the School has experienced growing numbers of students joining our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. As a result, we are seeking to complement our team with an experienced Lecturer in Information Systems.Our overriding aim is to be an outstanding Institution at which to study through provision of an excellent Learning and Teaching environment. We offer professionally relevant courses, informed by the needs of industry and delivered through an experiential learning approach. Our courses are inspired by contemporary research with a curriculum that develops knowledge, skills and the ability to think critically and be innovative.The Department of Computing conducts research across several themes including Machine Learning, Data Science, Intelligent Interactive Systems, Computing in Education and Cyber Security and hosts the Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems Research Group.The successful candidate will hold a Masters level qualification in Computer Science or related field, and have contemporary subject knowledge and/or experience of professional practice in several of the following areas:

  • Business and Management Information Systems / Business Intelligence
  • Information Systems Design and Development
  • Information Security / Cyber Security
  • Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence
  • IT Consulting and Project Management

Standard Academic Contract: The school has a range of support available to those staff who are research active to help you contribute to our RKE strategy, culture and environment including individual research mentoring, opportunity to apply for additional research allowance, and a 3-year support package for ECRs. Note to be considered for a Standard Academic Contract, the successful candidate will hold (or within 12 months of completion of) a PhD in Computer Science or related field.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of existing and new course offerings in our Computing Undergraduate and Postgraduate portfolio alongside (for a standard academic contract) contributing to the research and knowledge exchange activities within the Department of Computing.What’s in it for you?
