With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Professional (Engineer or Scientist)/Assistant Project Manager to join our Resilience Team in Calgary, Alberta. More specifically the potential Environmental Professional will join our Environmental Restoration (ER) Division.The Environmental Professional will have experience dealing with Contaminated Sites, Site Remediation and Monitoring. As well as direct experience with the coordination and management of environmental site assessment projects including Phase I ESA’s, Phase II ESA’s, risk assessments, and remediation projects. Using both provincial and federal regulatory frameworks, diligent interpretation of environmental data, the comparison of sample results to applicable standards/guidelines and data QA/QC, along with industry best practices is expected.The successful candidate will join a growing team to assist project management, technical support, and leadership. The Environmental Professional will support, mentor intermediate and junior staff with a focus on health and safety, team collaboration, high quality work, innovation, efficiency, and focused client relationship. The successful candidate will also work with other like-minded individuals to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations.The Environmental Professional is a hybrid role with the option to work remote or at one of our Arcadis offices. This role will require travel on an as needed basis, e.g., project site kick off meetings, client meeting, in-office meetings, etc. At Arcadis, the work/life balance and career are of utmost concern for our staff.At Arcadis, we take pride in uplifting our staff and offer upward mobility as staff develop and enhance their work experience, their skills, and show a desire to seek a planned and mentored career path.Role accountabilities:As an Environmental Professional, you will be expected to assist project management on small; large and complex environmental projects including, development and management of scope, schedule, budget, technical resources, project risks evaluation and mitigation, and procurement as well as technical advice, and report preparation and review. Adhere and support corporate policy and procedures, and maintain and support quality, health and safety, and performance management systems and manage and mentor staff.As an Environmental Professional you’ll have the opportunity to provide technical expertise in support of ongoing business pursuits and environmental projects in various sectors including; oil and gas; mining; power; infrastructure; brownfields and industrial re-development and government.The Environmental Professional will be responsible for ensuring that site/client project management (non-technical) objectives are defined and met (i.e., scope, schedule, cost). Prepare, and review reports, work plans, specifications, and proposals; manage technical budgets and provide oversight of intermediate and junior staff work for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy, QA/QC. Contribute to ongoing technical knowledge and innovation initiatives within Arcadis.Requirements:

  • Individuals with working knowledge and experience in environmental compliance and associated guidelines/legislation for provincial and federal requirements including CCME.
  • Direct experience working at contaminated sites such as: industrial facilities, refineries/bulk plants/gas stations, military properties, commercial processing plants, federal government properties, airports, mines, power plants, wind farms and solar facilities.
  • Experience working for clients in industrial, development, and federal and provincial government sectors.
  • Proven ability to design and implement field programs; analyze data, write reports, provide quality control and assurance. Excellence in communication and collaboration skills that facilitate detailed planning, timely decision-making, and efficient implementation is a must.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Willing to travel to project sites and meetings as required.
  • Ability to sign off reports and in good standing in accordance with provincial regulations is an asset.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Site inspections, Phase 1 Site Assessments, and compliance audit support. Fieldwork, including groundwater sampling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells, soil characterization and sampling, soil vapour/indoor air sampling and remediation monitoring.
  • Subcontractor oversite including drillers, utility locators, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with respect to Contaminated Sites and Site Remediation.
  • Direct experience within the fields of Engineering, Geoscience, and Technology with a focus on Site Investigations, Remediation, Risk Management and Environmental Monitoring.
