About the RoleThis Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Behavioural Science role is part of an exciting strategic development to build world-leading behavioural science research within the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis.The successful candidate will work on a study evaluating the use of a ‘direct to patient’ pathway for genetic testing in people with endometrial, colorectal and ovarian cancer. Within the context of a large randomised controlled trial (DETECT-2), the successful applicant will conduct a qualitative sub-study to explore patient experience and attitudes.About YouYou will have a PhD or equivalent postgraduate research experience in Health Psychology or similar discipline and undergraduate degree in relevant subject (Psychology) or equivalent experience.You will have considerable experience carrying out in-depth qualitative interviews and analysing qualitative data (e.g. thematic analysis) and experience of research in health psychology or another applied health discipline. Knowledge of genetic testing pathways for cancer patients would be advantageous to this position.About the School/Department/Institute/ProjectThe Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to 450 staff, over 100 PhD students and 500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.The Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis (CCSPED) brings together globally leading researchers focusing on cancer prevention, cancer screening and detection and early diagnosis across two units.
