BS3013-24-274The Brighton Student Skills Hub is seeking a Lecturer in Academic Skills (Maths and Statistics) to join our team and provide exceptional tutoring services to students of all levels.The role will provide crucial, expert supplementary support to students navigating the mathematical and statistical components of their degree programmes. The role holder will use specialist knowledge to craft a range of innovative learning opportunities designed to contribute to students’ transition, success, and progression. This will include supporting students to utilise self-directed learning tools, create resources and workshops, and offer 1:1 support, as required.The role will also develop an approach to embedding maths and stats academic skills support within the curriculum. We are particularly interested in candidates with quantitative experience of subjects allied to the Applied Sciences and/ or Sports and Health Sciences.Main areas of responsibility:

  • To prepare, facilitate, and deliver academic skills development workshops appropriate for Higher Education in a range of areas which include statistics software, basic numeracy, graduate numeracy tests and maths within the academic curriculum.
  • To support the university in meeting its aims and objectives in relation to student continuation, completion, and progression through supporting the development of an excellent student learning experience for all students.
  • To develop appropriate diagnostic tools to support student learning and make support material available online as self-help guides for students.
  • To liaise with Course Leaders, Subject Leads, Subject Leads, and Education and Student Experience Leads regarding developing, implementing, and evaluating tailored academic development to address specific students’ needs (including induction and transition support) as appropriate.
