Chief of Staff / COOWe are looking for a world class head of ops / chief of staff to help build and optimize the organization’s operations so it can scale. Someone who has specifically helped software companies scale from 15 people to 50 people.Who are we?Satlantis is the world’s first “Nomad and Community Social Network.” Imagine Instagram meets TripAdvisor meets Google Places. It’s a travel directory, social network and merchant map, all in one.We are funded, and have a team of 12 people across product, data, Nostr, ops and engineering. We are all hands on product development right now and are looking to bring the product to market in a deliberately staged approach later this year (and beyond).If you’re someone who has previously scaled organizations and is hungry to help bring a novel product to market, we’d love to hear from you.The RoleThis role is a full time, executive role with a healthy salary and equity on offer.This is a high-level, strategic position working closely with the CEO and key executives to manage priorities, oversee internal operations, craft the organization, build its people and processes, and to spearhead special projects.This is a REMOTE role and will require you to be self-motivated, hungry for progress, innovative and extremely diligent in order to keep up with what we want to achieve.ResponsibilitiesAct as a deputy to the CEO & mentor to the exec team
- Ensure organizational alignment & execution.
- Free up the CEO’s focus for capital raising, vision, strategy & narrative
- Assist CEO in decision-making with data-driven insights and recommendations
- Conduct regular calendar audits to optimize the executive team’s time.
- Review and synthesize metrics and initiatives to support company priority setting
Grow and develop the team
- Work with the CEO to establish the company culture, and then set the tone
- Mentor and develop team members (from junior all the way through to senior).
- Oversee and manage HR across the entire company (we do NOT believe in HR departments, but instead key leaders who hire)
- Identify and help recruit top talent for all departments.
- Onboard new employees and offboard non-performant team members
- Create and manage training programs for new hires and existing employees.
- Ensure all team members have the resources and support they need to succeed.
Establish and enforce accountability across the organization.
- Set clear performance metrics and goals for all departments.
- Hold team members accountable for results and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Provide feedback and support to help employees meet and exceed their objectives.
Process & Operations
- Companies scale via process. You need to discover the right kind of process for our unique team, and develop it together with them (their buy-in is necessary).
- Establish and optimize workflows across all departments to support scalability and operational efficiency.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, and ensure contingency plans and business continuity procedures are in place.
- Work with the CEO to manage the company’s finances
- Collaborate with the CFO to align financial planning with operational needs.
- Work with the company admin/secretary to monitor financial performance
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a highly operational role, preferably in a startup/high-growth company.
- Native english speaker.
- Intrapreneurial flair. You need to be problem-solver within the organization
- Strategic thinking > tactical.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Leadership qualities. You need to be able to inspire, not just manage.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Prior recruitment experience
- Proficiency with data tools like PowerBI or Airtable.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field
- Experience working directly with C-level executives
- Familiarity with the Nomad / Network-State ecosystem
- Strong network within the tech industry
- Experience working inside a fast-paced software team, building consumer applications
- This is a remote role, and our preference is that you’re either in Australia or Canada.
