OverviewWaters has pioneered analytical techniques across markets including Clinical Diagnostics, Food & Environmental, Pharmaceuticals, and Materials. In Clinical Diagnostics, Waters is a global leader in LC/MS, and we support our customers with the broadest IVD LC-MS portfolio with IVD-labelled instruments, software, reagents, and consumables. During the past 25 years, we have led the adoption of LC-MS for many applications including therapeutic drug monitoring, newborn screening, and endocrinology.Reporting to Vice President, R&D and QRC, this position is accountable for delivering complex, business critical Programs, with significant impact on Waters Clinical product roadmap and business. The R&D Program Sr. Director will lead globally and functionally diverse project teams to develop instrumentation, software and consumables to the In-Vitro Diagnostics LC/MS market. This position is based at Wilmslow (UK), Wexford (Ireland) or Milford (US).ResponsibilitiesFull accountability for delivery of complex and significant programs, from feasibility to manufacturing transfer, and commercialization.Create detailed implementation and risk mitigation plans in collaboration with functional leadership.Coordinate all internal program workstreams and functions, as well as external collaborations. Own the delivery of sub-project milestones on schedule, scope, and budget.Develop budgets and resourcing plans, seek approval, and execute accordingly.Lead a team of project managers. Hire and develop project management talent.Prepare and report status updates to senior leadership and the Executive Committee of Waters.Resolve challenges between program teams and other internal stakeholders.Qualifications

  • LC/MS and IVD industry experience including participation and/or leadership of significant projects leading to successful product launches.
  • Proven track record as a successful program leader in instrumentation, consumable and SW development.
  • Experience managing teams through long, complex program implementations. Proven leadership skills and ability to lead and develop talent.
  • Experience in negotiating and coordinating external collaborations, including contract manufacturing, OEM agreements, CRO collaborations, etc.
  • Experience preparing and managing budgets.
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Must have strong business acumen and good collaboration skills to meet business needs in partnership with other key stakeholders and functions.
  • Minimum of an Advanced degree (PhD, M.S.) in a Life Science, Med Tech, MBA or equivalent.
