1404756Academic Appointments are working with a successful School in the Leeds area to recruit an experienced school business manager, to join their hard-working team.As School Business Manager you will be a valued and important member
of the Senior Leadership Team and will make a significant contribution professionally and strategically to the leadership of the financial and administrative aspects of the School. You will be required to contribute to the overall organisation, management and direction of the Academy and the Trust including involvement in Trust wide projects and initiatives.You will be responsible for financial procedures, budget monitoring, HR
processes and other academy operations such as estates, projects and
ICT. You will carry out a range of duties which will include the direct line
management of administrative and site staff.The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Have sound experience in financial management and budgetary planning and control. Including being able to produce accurate forecasts for future years’ budgets based on the school’s estimated funding and trends in expenditure, to enable the headteacher and governing body to make strategic, long-term decisions.
  • Have experience in human resources, recruitment processing, personnel management, and payroll procedures.
  • Be able to identify, research, develop, cost, and implement new initiatives.
  • Advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team with strategic financial planning, ensuring the Academy makes the best use of its resources.
  • Lead on procurement processes, negotiate, manage, and monitor contracts, tenders, agreements, and deals for the provision of services for the Academy, conducting due diligence, benchmarking and evaluating suppliers, and ensuring value for money.
  • Develop, review, and implement effective risk assessment strategies, including business continuity planning, crisis management, and health and safety, to mitigate risks to the successful operation of the Academy and to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of health and safety (H&S) within the school.
  • Be skilled in building and project management.
  • Manage Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in school.
  • Have a knowledge and understanding of the changes in the educational landscape.
  • Have excellent communication skills and personnel skills and be able to present forecasts and give financial updates to all stakeholders.
  • Be able to deal sensitively with children, parents, and outside agencies
  • Take all decisions in line with the vision and values of the school, and encourage others to do the same.
  • Preferably hold a Level 4 Diploma in School Business management or equivalent.
