DescriptionCorteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Production Planning Manager position based at the Lethbridge, Alberta Seed Production Facility.As the Plant Planning Manager, you will plan for production resources such as manpower, equipment, tools, facilities, and raw materials needed to produce high quality canola seed to meet distribution, delivery, and stock transport schedules, additionally you will oversee warehouse activities for our soybeans, sunflowers, and seed corn production lines. We are seeking a strong leader to manage plant production operations and provide leadership and decisions to staff related to their areas and responsibilities. Strong communication skills will be needed to build internal and external relationships, deliver results, and be effective in this role.What You’ll Do:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Coach, support, and develop employees demonstrating and modeling Corteva Values. Enable direct reports to achieve their full potential. Provide regular coaching and feedback, hold employees accountable for achieving performance results aligned with our business strategy. Actively encourage and support employees’ career development, coach staff in stretch assignments and skill development critical to their jobs. Lead continuous improvement through open communication, recognizing and rewarding achievements, and resolving conflicts.
  • General Plant Operations Activities: Manage a significant operational area with organizational structures and jobs designed to meet results. Organize, clarify, align, manage complexity, and optimize work processes. Balance labor, assets, and schedules to meet volume and financial targets for all plant production activities. Manage daily plant operations which may include, but are not limited to receiving, bulk management, conditioning, treating, packaging, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution. Utilize LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement projects and foster a focused-improvement culture. Work closely with the Field Operations Manager to coordinate harvest and field to plant activities as needed. Manage quality operations systems and processes; ensure product first-pass-quality and conduct root-cause-failure-analysis with corrective actions as needed. Ensure on-time delivery to meet both business and customer needs (shipping and product movement activities).
  • Teamwork and Communication: Develop and maintain good communication and rapport with employees, other Corteva plants or departments, growers, vendors, etc. Work with other leaders to coordinate workflow and coordination or resources between departments. Promote collaboration and teamwork in an effective manner.
  • Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure all plant operations and work activities are safe for all employees. Ensure business activities and individuals (employees, contractors, and visitors) within the area of responsibility adhere to the organization’s safety policies, procedures, and programs to safeguard the environment. Continuously drive a safe work culture, ensuring employee engagement with safety as well as site compliance with all our safety programs. Recommend and implement safety and operational improvements.
  • Planning and General Administration: Review production schedules and allocate team members to meet business needs. Adjust schedules using knowledge of equipment and machine capacity, and worker capabilities. Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports (production records, inventory records, etc.). Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll record keeping. Work on special projects as assigned by Location Manager.
  • Financial and Budgeting: Achieve annual plant budget and business targets. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying, and interpreting deviations and trends, developing production and workforce projections, and submitting capital and operational budgets for approval.
  • Community Relations and Customer Focus: Develop and maintain positive community relations, coordinate, and participate in public relations activities. Build strong customer relationships and deliver customer centric solutions.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Drive compliance with federal, and industry regulations (e.g., CFIA, Seeds Canada, The Agrichemical Warehousing Standards Association, Labor Laws, etc.), production operations, company policies and guidelines. Provide input into production operations policies and guidelines. Adherence to Quality Plans, including assuring up-to-date quality system documentation and training is maintained.
  • Personal and professional development: Train for cross-functional job duties. Stay abreast of technology and plant leader concepts and methods. Establish and pursue development goals. Provide coaching and assistance to others on their learning plans.

QualificationsEducation:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agri Business or a related field preferred.

What Skills You’ll Need:

  • Credible, effective leader with 5 to 7 + years of experience in leadership or supervisory roles.

Strong understanding of operational effectiveness with 5 to 7+ years of experience in seed production, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, or other related fields. * Proven performance coaching and feedback skills that allow employees to bring their best selves to work each day as they grow their careers with us.
