Description We are initiating the search for a Family Support Specialist to join our team in the non-profit sector, based in Newport News, Virginia. As a Family Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in providing assistance to families, aiding in setting and achieving goals, and facilitating connections with community resources. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Implement evidence-based curriculums to support families in reaching their objectives.

• Identify the needs of families to ensure appropriate support and resources are provided.

• Establish connections with community resources to provide comprehensive support to families.

• Follow up on referrals to ensure families are receiving the necessary assistance.

• Write comprehensive reports documenting the progress and needs of families.

• Perform data entry tasks to maintain accurate records of family profiles and progress.

• Participate in reflective supervision sessions to continually improve service delivery.

• Attend training and staff meetings to stay updated on industry trends and organizational updates.

• Utilize skills in Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks and report writing.

• Provide education to parents to empower them in supporting their children’s development. Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the non-profit sector

• A bachelor’s degree is REQUIRED (Human Services or a related field is preferred)

• Strong administrative assistance skills with a keen attention to detail

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Excellent report writing skills with the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner

• Experience in providing parent education and family support services

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

• Demonstrated commitment to the ethical standards of the non-profit sector

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
