Position Duties: Cover global commodity and energy markets and the disruptive technologies driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. Assesses pathways for the power, natural gas, transport, industry, buildings, and agriculture sectors to adapt to the energy transition. Advises commodity trading, corporate strategy, finance, and policy professionals navigate change and generate opportunities. Expand our scope in North American gas by identifying and diagnosing short, medium, and long-term trends as new dynamics shape the market: LNG exports, changing weather patterns, and of course the impact of renewable energy. Guide and develop a talented group of individuals with diverse skillsets to form a coherent and collaborative team unit. Work with both our power, carbon, and renewables analyst teams to help build a holistic and balanced view of the role that different types of energy will play in the energy transition. Effectively communicate views and findings on gas market developments through reports, news stories, datasets, public presentations, and direct client interactions. Ensure the quality of the output produced by the team – both in terms of checking the underlying analysis and editing written reports. Job Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered, as a Researcher, or related. Must have two (2) years of experience in each of the following skills: Research experience within the gas, power, coal, carbon, or finance industries; Market analysis; Statistical analysis; Market research; PythonPandas, SQL or R; Quantitative analysis; Large datasets and building complex models; and Quantitative tools.Rate of pay: $145,000 – $165,000 /year
