Organizational Setting
The AIM4Forests programme aims at leveraging technical innovation to create data and information to inform the right courses of action to reduce deforestation and restore forests. AIM4Forests will leverage everything that technology and innovation offers such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. In addition, it will also make sure that the capacity is transferred to countries, including IPs and local communities who manage the forests – only that way can we see real change. The objective of Brazil’s AIM4Forests country work plan is to support the government of Brazil in strengthening the sustainability, accessibility, robustness and transparency of forestry information.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
Support SFB in coordinating the implementation of work packages, undertake technical work for specific deliverables and support the AIM4Forests Brazil focal point in monitoring the implementation of the project’s work plan.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Support SFB in guiding implementation of work packages:
o Ensure that the technical activities are adequately coordinated to support the delivery of the project outputs
o Develop and/or review Terms of Reference of affiliate workforce and ensure compliance with current standards and regulations.
o Support with quality control of deliverables
o Facilitating workshops, including reporting
o Support knowledge management with technical inputs and reports
• Support the AIM4Forests Brazil focal point in advancing the implementation of the project’s workplan (20%):
o Liaising with the government institutions involved to facilitate implementation of project activities
o Liaising with the FAO Brazil office to facilitate implementation of project activities
o Act as a resource person for implementation of AIM4Forests activities, as needed
o Keep the FAO team updated on progress and any bottlenecks
o Support to donor reporting for 2024
o Support to work planning for 2025
• Undertake other tasks as required and participate in frequent in-person meetings at the FAO Brazil office and at the Brazilian Forest Service office, both in Brasília.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in forestry, natural resource management or a related field.
• 5 years of relevant work experience in project coordination including projects with international cooperation in related areas of the Brazilian Forest Service.
• 8 years of work experience in the forestry sector.
• Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese.
• National of Brazil.
