PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:
The main purpose of this consultancy is to develop layout and graphic designs for the communication materials for community engagement creative communication materials for social media platforms, guidelines, manual, graphic for immunization, maternal & child health, and nutrition, education, child protection, WASH, emergency response and AAP in Myanmar.
The graphic designer will be supervised by the SBC officer (SBC unit), UNICEF-NPT office in Myanmar.
ESTIMATED DURATION OF LTA:
This is a time-bond LTA, and the duration of the long-term agreement will be from 15 August 2024 to 16 July 2027 for a total of (36 months) (home-based). Candidates who are successful for the long-term agreement will be contacted within this duration to be contracted for specific assignments as and when needed.
Duty station/Geographic Area:
The assignment is home-based. Should any in country travel be scheduled, consultant will be reimbursed based on actual approved and authorized travel. UNICEF will reserve funds to cover this. This amount does not have to be included in the proposal.
Description of Assignment :
MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED
- Provide creative brief on the proposed development of communication materials which should be based on the technical contents, community perspective and concepts briefed by supervisor.
- Development of new communication materials in different formats as required.
- Adaptation of existing communication materials in different formats as required.
- Contextualization of existing communication materials in different formats as required.
- Technical brief will be provided by SBC unit, and each assignment must be delivered in time.
- Based on the technical comments on the content and design, consultant is responsible to revise and submit the quality products.
- The working files of artworks should be shared with UNICEF as required.
Responsibilities of the Consultant:
- Consultant will use his/her own laptop and internet access.
- Delivery date must be accurate according to the predefined timelines.
- On assignment completion, the finalized communication materials will be submitted electronically to Social Behaviour Change Officer, UNICEF SBC unit.
- Each product should be double-checking on quality and designs must be in line with UNICEF’s policies on visibility, branding, the consultant needs to send completed communication materials to UNICEF through email.
- Flexibility for several rounds of editing, if needed and be available for feedback and inputs as per the requirements of the office. The camera-ready version must have high quality in different formats as required. (E.g., PDF, JPEG, etc.,)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- Minimum three-year experience in developing layout design for IEC materials
- Minimum three-year experience in graphic design, illustration, and desktop publishing
- Experience on creative software such as Adobe Creative Suites
- Experience on layout design for Information Education Communication materials particularly related to immunization, nutrition, maternal and child health, or WASH
- Experience of working with UNICEF, UN agencies, or humanitarian organizations is a plus.
- Communicates effectively with various stakeholders.
- Results driven; able to work effectively in a multi- cultural environment and with minimum supervision.
- Strong sense of team spirit, diplomacy, able to work effectively with different sections and teams.
- Able to deliver assigned tasks in tight timelines.
- Ability to work under tight schedule, respond to multiple demands including within a changing environment.
- Ability to develop high-quality products.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
