We are looking for an experienced visitor experience professional, who in confident in their
ability to create a welcoming visitor experience for all. A dynamic environment where no two
days are the same, you will be responsible for leading the onsite visitor experience at
London’s oldest botanic garden. The VEM is responsible for income generation targets associated
with admissions and group bookings, and needs to confident in motivating team members to reach
targets. Leading the weekly operations meetings, the VEM needs to be collaborative and solution
focused, ensuring the manure delivery doesn’t block access to the site isn’t something you do
in every work place! As we look to the future we want everyone to understand the power of
plants in their lives, and the VEM is a key role in supporting this organisational ambition.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Sales and targets focussed, experienced in achieving a range of performance targets
  • An accomplished and experienced line manager with an empowering and motivating nature
  • Demonstrable customer service skills and a desire to exceed visitor customer expectations
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of managing ticketing systems and admissions teams
  • Ability to balance complex stakeholder interests in a constrained site, and to work as part of
    a small team
  • An interest in working sustainably in a time of climate emergency

Desirable:

  • Experience of supervising volunteers
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating initiatives/projects
  • Knowledge of current trends, resources and information relating to the voluntary sector
  • First Aid Qualification
  • A working knowledge of, and training in Safeguarding
  • Knowledge of working in values-led organisations such as charities, or the cultural sector
  • An interest in Gardens or Garden history and a willingness to understand basic botany and the
    role of a modern Physic Garden
