Main purpose of job: The position will mainly assist the Food & Drink and Agri-tech Trade and Promotion activities in Mexico, but other sectors may be reviewed. The primary role of this position is to offer commercial and administrative support to the Food & Drink and Agri-tech Team within the Department for Business and Trade at the British Embassy in Mexico. This role will operate under and report directly to the Food & Drink and Agri-tech Trade Officer in the team. The successful candidate will collaborate with UK exporters and investors in the Food & Drink and Agri-tech sectors, aiming to enhance trade and investment activities. The successful candidate will support and develop relationships with British and Mexican companies, and deliver an impactful programme of activities focussed on highlighting the UK’s expertise in the mentioned sectors. The successful candidate is also expected to carry out research and to provide support for events.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
