Org. Setting and Reporting
- UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions. The incumbent reports to the Projects Officer.
Responsibilities
The incumbent:
- Assists the Projects Officer in identifying and reviewing project needs, prepares individual project proposals and maintains the Field’s project master list.
- Coordinates and follows up on project implementation with the programme and concerned departments and in reporting to the Projects Officer any delays or problems hindering the implementation of projects.
- Coordinates with the concerned department in drafting project proposals, project progress and final reports.
- Monitors and controls financial expenditure of projects in coordination with the Administrative Officers of the programme and concerned departments, the Field Finance Officer and HQ Finance Department. Assists the Projects Officer in developing alternative plans to utilize remaining funds after project completion, in coordination with the relevant departments.
- Collects data and information on the progress of project implementation for inclusion in the monthly monitoring report.
- Assists the Projects Officer during donor/s visits. 7. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Education
- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in project management, economics, development studies, business administration or other related field preferably with formal training in project development and project follow-up systems.
Work Experience
- At least three years of relevant experience in project development and project management is required. -Please confirm if you live/ reside in West Bank or Jerusalem? And if you have West Bank or Jerusalem ID. please to mention its number down, as it is desirable.
Languages
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
