The British Embassy in Athens is part of a world-wide network, representing a wide range of British interests overseas from political, through Economic, consular and Law Enforcement. The Embassy is now looking for a Trade & Investment Adviser, for the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) to contribute to the delivery of the DBT Country Trade Plan by supporting UK companies to gain export contracts in Greece and Greek companies to launch into, or expand in, the UK market.
The Trade & Investment Adviser leads sector-specific business engagement activities into the Greek market, to promote and influence trade and investment opportunities. This is an exciting time to join the Department for Business and Trade and the British Embassy in Athens and contribute to strengthening the bilateral trade relationship.

The role will involve some travel within Greece and occasionally to the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the team’s pipeline of commercial opportunities on a number of priority sectors for the Greek market (such as Life Sciences, Transport, advanced engineering etc.), through export promoting activities (introductions, visit programmes, events).
- Support UK exporters to succeed in the Greek market, providing business intelligence and market insight in the relevant fields.
- Develop high-level contacts with key stakeholders in relevant Government institutions, trade associations and the business community, both in Greece and the UK.
- Help to resolve barriers to business and market access issues for specific UK companies, and to support engagement with local business stakeholders on policies and rules for doing business with the UK.
- Successfully build and manage a pipeline of knowledge-driven projects that have the potential to bring high-value jobs and R&D to the UK.
- Work across the Embassy teams to develop and deliver internal projects and campaigns in raising the UK profile.
- Work closely with wider DBT Europe team and engaging with relevant colleagues, as required, across Europe posts.
