Job description
Overview:The activities associated with this role fall into four categories:1. Support Business Development (BD) and IPM by providing close management of clients, coordinating across Business Units (BU’s) and promoting the integrated discovery services platform
2. Carry out marketing and BD activities as required
3. Support research into and the assessment of technical development initiatives for Discovery Services
4. Support the EU BD team as requiredResponsibilities:1. Provide client project management
Work with the BD teams to identify clients of high potential who would benefit from provision of technical and project coordination support. Create engagement plan for such support and work with the client, BU and BD teams to implement and manage.
2. Role in IPM team
Assist with evaluating therapeutic area and target opportunities, positioning and differentiation of new projects, and preparation of client discussion materials. Work with internal stakeholders to maintain a strong awareness of pharma market trends and provide all supporting background information regarding market size, distribution and trends relating to therapeutic areas, target class and modality for IPM team projects. Work with technical teams in the EU, US and China, client teams and investors (internal and external) as required.3. Carry out marketing (MKT) and BD activitiesWork alongside the BD and MKT teams to attend conferences, engage with clients, promote the activities and capabilities of the technical teams and enhance the visibility of the WuXi AppTec (WXAT) platform.4. Support technical development initiatives for Discovery ServicesWork with BD and BU leaders and the corporate investment team to identify and evaluate gaps in the WXAT platform and support creation of strategies to fill those gaps, validate new technologies and present new capabilities to clients.5. Support EU business developmentFrom time to time provide research and technical support to the EU BD teams, provide strategic cover for colleagues, and coordinate with commercial and marketing offices.Key success measures:
1. Grow the IPM business models
2. Continued growth of the discovery services business in the EU
3. Realization of initiatives that extend the scope of the business and/or broaden the client base
4. Positive impact on discovery services strategy, operational practices, capabilities and image
5. Close involvement with one or more investment or acquisition projects Qualifications:
- PhD (or equivalent) in chemistry, biology or other fields relevant to drug discovery
- Minimum of 5 years working experience after PhD or 10 years after Master’s degree
- Experience in project management, for non-clinical drug discovery projects spanning hit identification to clinical candidate nomination, preferably in one or more of small molecule, oligonucleotide or peptide modalities
- Effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams
- Prior experience working in and/or interacting with CRO / CRDMO organizations a plus
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Excellent Oral & Written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Travel is required 20%, Domestic/International, Daily / Overnight
