As a Refinery Project Manager, you will lead the development and execution of a number of small and medium sized projects. Responsibilities include preparing baseline documents and funding requests for each project phase, and subsequent controlling to the baseline as the project develops and is executed. Your success will be working collaboratively with cross functional teams to effectively manage and safely execute multiple projects concurrently according to our refinery and corporate policies, instructions, and procedures..What We Offer:Competitive Compensation – Including an annual bonus plan, and pension plan.Flexible Benefits Plan – in effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needs.Paid Vacation – Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, too.Wellness Support – With an annual wellness allowance, paid personal care days and a 24/7 Employee & Family Assistance ProgramOpportunity to give back to some amazing causes in our community – Choose when and where to make an impact with a paid volunteer day, company volunteer opportunities, and a donation matching program.Your Responsibilities:Define project scope, goals, and deliverables ensuring they align with overall business goals.Work collaboratively with stakeholders, specifically senior management and project sponsors.Develop and submit funding requests for each project phase; complete baseline documentation including the Project Execution Plan, estimate, schedule, and risk management plan.Coordinate the completion of Engineering deliverables for each project phase.Liaise with Supply Management through the development and execution of the project to ensure procurement and contract deliverables are complete in accordance with the project strategy and schedule.Interface with Turnaround and Construction groups through the development and execution as well as completion and handover of the project.Manage and control the project schedule, cost, and risks; liaise and coordinate with Project Controls to provide monthly updates on cost and schedule, both actuals and forecast; provide other project updates and reports as required.Interface with Program Managers as required to ensure the various projects are managed effectively within the programs’ mandates and support program reporting as needed.Liaise with Capital Portfolio Management to ensure schedule requirements and funding needs of various projects are incorporated into the short and long term capital budget.Effectively communicate and manage project expectations to team member and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.Identify and resolve issues and conflicts with stakeholder groups to ensure alignment of key stakeholders with the project strategy.Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, presentations, and any other necessary project communication.Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential problem areas, and devise contingency and mitigation plans.Exercising a high degree of Emotional intelligence and Influential Leadership will be a continuing theme in this role.Your Skills:Strong financial acumen to manage project budgets, typically for capital projects under $5M.Able to provide direction to different team members while working on multiple projects.Flexible working style to adapt quickly to changing priorities, unforeseen circumstances, and tight timelines; able to redirect the focus of the team quickly.Strong communication skills; written, oral, and presentation skills.Proactive mindset; always searching to identify possible issues from multiple areas and developing plans to mitigate.Your Experience:Post-secondary education in a technical field, an industrial trade, or equivalent experience.Minimum 10 years of experience working in the heavy industrial field in engineering, reliability, construction, maintenance, or Turnarounds, preferably in a projects environment.Experience as a Project Manager in a heavy industrial environment is a definite asset.PMP (Project Management Professional) designation is an asset.Experience working with different project execution models is an asset.Irving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
